Last week it was overwhelmingly decided by the members of this community that The Bugs Bunny / Road Runner Show was the bet thing on CBS Saturday Morning in 1980, with Fat Albert & The Cosby Kids coming in a distant second. I was saddened to see that my beloved Drak Pack cam in at a three-way tie for third with the likes of The Tom & Jerry Comedy Show and The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse and Heckle & Jeckyl. There's something wrong with you people... terribly, terribly wrong :(

SO! ONWARD AND UPWARD! This week's Friday Poll:

DYNOMUTT, DOG WONDER - Tuning in to your local NBC affiliate at 8:30 on a Saturday morning would bring you to the second half-hour of the Godzilla / Dynomutt Hour. Much like the Godzilla cartoons that they were paired with, the Dynomutt cartoons used in this show were just reruns of the two seasons that had run from 1976 to 1978 with no new content other than the opening title sequence. The show was about a Batman-esque super hero (Blue Falcon) and his assistant, bumbling yet generally effective robot dog Dynomutt, who could produce a seemingly infinite number of mechanical devices from his body. As with many other animated super-heroes of the era, no origins for the characters were ever provided so you should go ahead and start writing your FanFic *NOW* :)

A special nod to Dynomutt The Dog Wonder, who was the first of the 1970's Legends to fall oout of circulation in the 1980's. Although new episodes stopped production in the late 1970's, it was in the year 1980 that Dynomutt had his final run on network Saturday Morning TV as part of NBC's "Godzilla / Dynomutt Hour". It was the beginning of a huge trend; package two or more 1970's re-runs together and sell it to the kids as something that might be new but was really just re-runs.

So here's to you, Dynomutt... thanks for being a part of our 80's Saturday Morning Experience!

Leave your Dynomutt comments, stories and memories here to share with the rest of the group, and if Dynomutt is one of your favorites then don't forget to go vote for him in our Best of 1980 Poll!
