I never personally watched this cartoon, but those who did watch it seem to have enjoyed it quite a bit so I can't really say anything about it. Maybe it was your favorite, who knows? Leave some memories in the comments below, and then head over to vote for it in our Best of 1988/1989 Poll!

The New Adventures of Winnie The Pooh came to us in the fall of 1988 and it was kind of epic. At the time, we kids may have thought "Oh great another cartoon for BABIES", but looking back on it I now see just how brilliant this cartoon was! THe Animation style, the storylines, the voice-acting - OMG THE VOICE ACTING!!! They had done a few new Pooh cartoons in the early 80's where the voices were just... well they *tried*, but the voices just weren't right. But with THIS cartoon, they got pitch-perfect voices for each and every character matching almost *exactly* with the original cartoons (which is NOT an easy thing to accomplish)!

I have all kinds of love for this cartoon. Share some love or dissenting opinions in the comments below, and then if you haven't already done so go ahead and vote for it in our Best of 1988/1989 Poll!

Alf Tales was a spin-off of the popular Alf cartoon, which was a prequel spin-off of the live-action-and-puppet sit-com Alf. Of the three, this was the weakest link. For some unknown reason, Alf and his Melmakian friends would reenact Earth Fables and Stories each week. Weird.

PERSONAL FAVORITE!!! The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley was the last "New" cartoon I ever made a point of waking up early enough to watch. Martin Short's "Ed Grimley" character was all the rage with my nerdy little friends and I, we impersonated him all the time and were ecstatic to see a weekly show of his adventures. And of course, the cherry on the top of this totaly mental misadventure every week was the bonus live-action COUNT FLOYD!!!

(The back-story of Count Floyd, as loyal viewers of SCTV knew, is that he was an anchorman for the SCTV Evening News Team who made money on the side by hosting the late-night horror movies and, later, bringing the B-movies to Saturday Mornings for the kids).

Love, love, LOVE this show! Share the love in the comments below and then go vote for Ed in our Best Of 1988/1989 Poll!

I'm going to go ahead and dub this "Best Cartoon That Nobody Has Ever Seen", based purely on the people involved (even though I've never actually seen an episode). You've got a young pre-Ren-And-Stimpy John K. working on this show, the man who was quoted as saying something like "If you can close your eyes and still tell what's going on in the cartoon, you've done it wrong; you may as well just produce it as a Radio Show" (paraphrased because I can't be bothered to Google).

Was this a favorite of yours? Leave some memories or reflections on the subject in the comments below, and then maybe even go and vote for it in our Best of 1988/1989 Poll!

A lot of people had no idea that this cartoon ever existed. Heck, even *I* didn't know it existed until I found a Karate Kid lunch box at a local thrift store a few years back! Looks kind of awesome, I think?

And just to make us all feel a little bit older, Ralph "The Karate Kid" Machio just turned 50 this week. FIFTY YEARS OLD.

If you're an ancient relic like me or you just have something nice to say about this cartoon feel free to leave a message in the comments below. And if you're so inclined, feel free to go vote this up in our Best of 1989/1990 Poll!

Captain N: The Game Master. I have nothing to say, positive or negative. It was a cartoon that was on and I'm pretty sure I watched it, didn't it have a cross-dressing prostitute in a jar as the main bad guy or something?

Leave your fond memories and/or observations regarding this cartoon in the comments below, and then feel free to head on over and vote it up in our Bext of 1989/1990 Poll!

I wish I could find higher quality episodes of this show on-line, as I've developed a fascination with John Candy over the past few years and I've never even seen this cartoon.

What do YOU remember about it? Leave some comments below and then if you really liked this show go ahead and vote it up in our Best of 1989/1990 Poll!

Not many people remember the Fraggle Rock cartoon, but those of us who do knew exactly how perfect it was. If you were a fan of the real Fraggle Rock, this show never dissapointed; quite possibly the BEST transition from live-action to animation EVER!

Agree or disagree? Leave some comments below and then if you feel up to it and haven't already done so, head on over to our Best of 1987 Poll to vote some love :)

(Unable to find a single embeddable clip of this show on all of You Tube, but you can watch the opening at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgS8oOm0mlM)

The Alf cartoon was every bit as good, if not better than the original live-action sit-com. Take that as you will :P

1987 was an epic year for the Babyfication or Youthenation of classic characters, I think due at least in part to the success of The Muppet Babies. Here we had "America's Teenager" and his gang turned in to "America's PRE-Teenager", and I think it worked in a late-80's way :)

Leave some kind words for The New Archies in the comments below, and if you haven't already done so feel free to go and vote it up in our Best Of 1987 Poll!

See, I *knew* there had to be more cartoons from the 80's based on movies! Found this nice video on The YouTubes which contains just over 6 minutes of movie cartoon tie-in videos from the 1980's. Not sure if the Chuck Norris Karate Comandoes really counts, but it's nice to see it included :)

As I satrted writing about 1986's Teen Wolf cartoon, I thought I would have lots of similar cartoons to compare it to. But then I became stumped - can YOU think of any other cartoons that were based on movies? I can only think of the one other one, The Real Ghostbusters (which also debuted in 1986)... where there any others?

While you think about that, feel free to leave your discussions on the topic of Teen Wolf in the comments below, and then head on over to vote in our Best 0f 1986 Poll!

Galaxy High was one of the most potentially awesome cartoons of 1986, and I wish I had gotten to see more of it... it must have been on opposite of something I thought was even better?

Leave some kind words for Galaxy High, and if you haven't already done so go ahead and vote for your favorites over in the Best of 1986 Poll!

Unlike Foofur, KISSYFUR was one of my Saturday Morning favorites for 1986! I wish I could explain why these two cartoons are polar opposites in my mind... they just *ARE*.

Care to try and explain that? Feel free to leave some comments below, and then head on over and vote for Kissyfur in our Best of 1986 Poll!

Foofur was a cartoon that I just didn't get. I was aq fan of what we called 'Critter Cartoons' where animals talked and acted like regular people, but this one? I remember trying to watch it once or twice and it just escaped me. Maybe it was because I was now officially a surly teenager at the ripe old age of 13?

Maybe you have fonder memories or kinder words for poor Foofur; feel free to leave your observations in the comments below. ANd if you haven't already down so, you may want to head over to our Best of 1986 Poll to give it a vote :)

The Legendary Super Powers show was the first BIG CHANGE that The Super Friends had seen since the introduction fo The Wonder Twins back in 1977. Two great big changes, in fact; first of all, the introduction of new team member FIRESTORM (aka "The Guy In The Creamsicle-Colored Band Uniform With His Head On Fire"), the other being the introduction of a main Super Villain (DARKSIED). An epic change in direction and tone for what would become the shows penultimate season.

Leave your own personal memories or reflections regarding this version of The Super Friends in the comments below, and if you haven't already taken the time to do so, be sure to go and vote for this cartoon in our Best of 1985 Poll!

The Ewoks cartoon is the Chumba Wumba of 1980's Saturday Mornings - A guilty pleasure that few are willing to admit was as good or loved as much as it actually was.

Go ahead, try watching a few episodes today, now that The Ewoks are no longer the most hated part of the Star Wars universe (Thanks, Jar-Jar)! The Ewoks are living in a fully realized, well-thought-out world of their own with no ties to the regular Star Wars storyline. Just a great cartoon about a tribe of teddy bears living in tree houses!

C'mon, you know you love this cartoon. Show some love in the comments below and then go vote for The Ewoks in our Best Of 1985 Poll!

As a non-serious Star Wars fan (I was always more of a Star Trek kid), I always thought that this cartoon stood up pretty well on it's own! It seemed very removed from the whole "Epic Battle Between Good And Evil" of main-stream Star Wars, which I really liked :)

SO how do you feel about this one? Share your observations in the comments below and if you haven't already done so, go on over and vote for it in our Best of 1985 Poll!

Since today is the birthday of Star Trek, I've decided to put up a special 1980's Saturday Morning Historical Reenactment Society Fan Page for the Star Trek animated series that ran on NBC Saturday Mornings in 1973/1974.

HEY! That's not The 80's! )
So this post is actually two-fold... share your memories of the Star Trek cartoon here, AND feel free to nominate other shows that weren't part of the standard network television line-up for inclusion in our adoration :)
