NBCUniversal Taps Lion Forge Comics to Develop Digital Comic Books Based on Beloved 80s TV Shows
TL;DR The folks at Lions Forge Comics are making comic books featuring Punky Brewster, Knight Rider, Airwolf, Miami Vice and Saved By The Bell. This could be a great door-opener for bringing back several other beloved properties of the 80's as well, comics having always been a great gateway in to the field of animation.
So in the tradition of Punky Brewster, Laverne & Shirley, Fonz, Mork & Mindy, etc... what beloved 80's property would YOU like to see brought to comics and/or cartoons?
My votes are for Silver Spoons (it would be kind of like a scaled-down Richie Rich), The Edison Twins (a scientific Sherlock Holmes of the 80's) and/or The Greatest American Hero (there's more stories in that concept, I just know it!)

Date: 2013-07-04 09:37 pm (UTC)I want Captain N comics back! I was the proud owner of the German print of the very first issue, which my parents duly binned at some point. Can't find it anywhere online. ANYWHERE!
Fruit vs. vegetable war ftw (English version can be found online if you are curious)!

There's plenty of room for stories there. Maybe Count Duckula, The Real Ghostbusters, Inspector Gadget, Jem, The Littles, Strawberry Shortcake, Teen Wolf, and Thundercats. Some would obviously be aimed more at kids than older audiences, but I think they could really go somewhere with Jem. Like what they did with the new Teen Wolf show. They reworked it into a more adult drama instead of a cheezy comedy concept. I went in expecting something stupid, but it's pretty well done and it's on my shortlist of Things I'm Watching Currently.

As a person who never really followed the DC stuff, you might do okay with the New DCU stuff... no baggage, no expectations... just wish I had any of the issues to share with you!

Date: 2013-07-05 05:04 pm (UTC)I've been primarily reading Marvel and some independent stuff for a while now. I have the Marvel Unlimited subscription, which turned out to be awesome, with more content than I could ever possibly read. But I can't read on my tablet because it's too old for the app, so I have to do it at my PC or on my laptop. I tried it on my phone, but the software just released for the Android is too buggy. I suspect we'll see an update soon.

It's not a comedy, though it has some genuinely laugh-out-loud funny moments. Lots of drama. While it reminds me of some other shows in a few ways, it has a voice and feel entirely its own. I think Stiles is my favorite character. He's the "normal" one. He's always acting like a real teenager (only less annoying), which I appreciate. Not like a 20-something being passed off a teenager, which is really common. A lot of "teen" characters are written older. So the writing and acting are good in that area. It's definitely not a Molly-friendly show. The violence can be a little disturbing and there's some pretty scary imagery and intense scenes.
I know most of those properties don't stand a chance of going anywhere, but I figured those would make decent premises if given to the right writers. I can dream.
