I don't do the recent stuff... the "New DCU 52" is just a terrible mess of writers trying to shock people in to reading them. I've tried REALLY HARD to like their reboot, picking up trade paperbacks at the library, and every collection I've read has kust left me feeling that I wasted my time and effort :(
However, just before the reboot, they were churning out some incredible stuff even if it was all a bit too "event" centric. These collections are easy to find thanks to the library, and rarely need to be read in any particular order :)
As a person who never really followed the DC stuff, you might do okay with the New DCU stuff... no baggage, no expectations... just wish I had any of the issues to share with you!
