[Poll #1766532]

A few notes:
  • More live-action shows than we've ever seen on Saturday mornings in the 80's hit this year, I think it was maybe to fill the coming void of Captain Kangaroo leaving the air :(
  • Lots of the shows which have been heavily requested by our members make their debut here, including Kidd Video and Muppet Babies
  • To this day I STILL sing the Pole Position theme song when driving really fast and passing other cars :)

I'd almost swear most of the team working on Kidd Video had to be on something hallucinogenic. Still, awesome show.

I'm with you on that one. Also, did you ever think as I did that Kidd's live-action counterpart in the videos looked like Simon Le Bon and Nick Rhodes of Duran Duran had a baby? XD

I didn't really follow Duran Duran, so I didn't compare them at the time. Now that you mention it though... XD

LOL. I have GOT to tell that one to my sister. Kidd Video was her introduction to Duran Duran videos, and she actually became a hard-core Duranie when their popularity was at their nadir. (It was the 90's and we live in Seattle, but grunge rock did nothing for her.)

LOL, that is awesome. I'm still a Duranie and I've been one since I was about four....

I know my Dad born in 1955 would pick Captain Kangaro but I've never watched it before. ;) I was born in 1986.

I'll go with Muppet Babies, as it was the best written of all those shows. (Not that the others are inferior, but MB had a different quality or approach than most, especially by today's standards. Nothing like that, today, I think.)

Although, I can't say no to Snorks, either. Underwater Smurfs? I'm sold. Heh.

I thought Turbo Teen was pretty cheesy, even as a kid. I honestly don't recall VidKids. Pryor's Place wasn't a cartoon, so I always changed the channel. I don't think I bothered to give it a chance. It's not like I lacked good options at the time anyway.

Personally, my favorite fare was in 85-87, but they weren't network toons (GI Joe, Teddy Ruxpin), so they obviously don't belong here.

Indeed about the Snorks as it tried too hard to be Smurf-like. Oh, well, it still had a good voice cast, so I can't complain, either.

I should also say that given my icon, the Orbots amuse me, as well. Heh.

I loved Kidd Video(and not just on my radio). Loved that show ... nothing like it since.

And the Little Puppy's Further Adventures ... yeah, that was one of my favorite shows in my childhood now completely missing. It took me years before I even found a tiny picture on the internet to let me know I hadn't just dreamed up that show. I couldn't remember the title or anything. I loved that show and its predecessor. Still do. I wish they would put it out on DVD or something *sighs*

Any new Scooby is always a plus, I've loved that dog since forever. He's easily one of my favorite cartoon characters of all time. If he'd had a cross over with The Little Puppy I think I would have died ... LOL

I love this group, and remembering the good old shows. Muppet Babies ... never missed it. I loved that show, and still do. At the time it was easily my favorite show, along with The Little Puppy's adventures ... easily.

That's seriously cute, LOL And I think you're right, no one who watches that show, could not love that show. Now if they would just put it back on tv.

Turbo Teen and Muppet Babies for me. :)
I don't know a few of these though...

Nearly voted for Pole Position, but only because of the theme song, I never actually watched it. :D

Pole Position - the voice acting was better than the animation, and I remember thinking that it would make a GREAT crossover with Real Adventures of Johnny Quest. Teenaged!Daisy joining up with Jessie, Johnny, and Hadji? Oh, hell yea! Always liked the fact that Tess was clearly the brains of the operation.

Turbo Teen? Corny, cheesy, but damn it was fun.

Kidd Video: How 80's can you get? And yeah, the animation was plenty deranged. What a fascinating world, though.

Muppet Babies? The older I get, the more brilliant I realize this thing was. Homages to old movies, classic books, forgotten TV shows, and some catchy songs to boot. Too bad the sampling from all of the above guarantees it'll never see DVD.

I will have to watch Muppet Babies on youtube me thinks, I wouldn't have got many of those references as a kid. :)

As for race music, I hear Starlight Express racing music (another 80s thing) rather than Pole Position, but it's still so catchy. :D

I never even knew the Get Along Gang had its own cartoon show. I remember my grandma buying me a book of the Get Along Gang and I instantly fell in love with the characters, I loved it so much. I wish I had seen the cartoon then, I would have been ecstatic!

Man, Kidd Video is one of those that sticks with me, because I remember one of the live action music video segments where the girl was in a hospital (?) and that freaked me out when I was little for a reason I don't even remember. XD
