saturday_am_80sHalloween is next week! Most of us are probably doing our thing this weekend though. While putting together my costume, I was reminded that we need a Halloween post here!
It will be mostly 80's-cartoon-related costumes, with a few tangents. Lots of images.
So, let's get started:
This is a good Rainbow Brite. Apparently it's from a pattern released that year. Boot covers and everything!
A couple of adorable girls, but I don't know what their costumes are. Definitely 80's, though. Check out that Mr. Men candy bag! (Edit: probably Punky Brewster)
A clown (that sewing pattern was EVERYWHERE back then and I even wore it one year) and a Punk Rocker or Street Walker? You decide!
Good Strawberry Shortcake and an Oscar!
I think this may have been Teen-Wolf inspired:
Going as a book? That's a novel concept. *badabing*
This takes the shortcake for cute:
This is a really good Ewok, unlike the shag-carpet version my husband had as a kid.
I can safely say I've never seen an NBC peacock costume before:

I think everybody had a store-bought one at least once. There were a few good ones out there, but a lot were kinda crappy. Good thing we didn't know better as kids. XD

Yoda (and a Leia/Ballerina/Princess/Fairy)

Some quick and easy ideas for last-minute costumes:
Blog post about a good Cyndi Lauper costume from 1984. It's not that hard to find clothing you can use at a second-hand store, either. The hair color spray is also easy to get this time of year.

Jem costumes are actually pretty easy if you can get a pink wig and find some cheap thrift-store clothing to cut up and some earring bits to attach stars to. The make-up is much more difficult, though, since it hs to be vivid and obvious. I once found a video on Youtube describing how to do it. I'm not able to go Youtube-hunting right now though.
One of my friends decided last-minute to do Inspector Gadget. He had an old damaged gray hat and a gray trenchcoat already. He bought a wig and two pairs of matching gloves. He bought a metal folding/unfolding thing that is kind of in a criss-cross pattern and rigged it to stick out the top of the hat (which he cut open with a flap) and stuck a stuffed glove to the end. Worked surprisingly well.
And last, but certainly not least, a bit from the 1987 Disney DTV Halloween Special!
I'll see how my costume turns out and whether or not I can post a pic of it. I'm leaning toward not, since it might be a bit inappropriate and I'd rather not end up with that out on the Internets for posterity. XD We'll see.

Yay! I had that werewolf mask that the boy on the left is wearing in the 5th pic! I loved that his teeth had glow in the dark paint on them ^_^

There's a picture of me wearing it standing next to one of my uncle's friends, who was wearing the mask and had a blunt sticking out. *facepalm* That's the only photographic evidence of me in a store-bought costume, and I would have destroyed it if it wasn't so funny.
