Our next big 1980's Saturday Morning Historical Reenactment will be taking place early in December, either the first or second Saturday of that month (December 3rd or December 10th, we'll know more once we're closer to the dates in question). In planning this event and since it's going to be right at the beginning of The Holiday Season, I figured we should ask you about content...

[Poll #1780467]

Please note that at the very least there will be a few Holiday-Themed commercials from the 1980's in our line-up, there won't be any escaping that :)

I don't care either way. But I'd prefer it half and half.

Was there a Sonic 80s show? Or did that not come along until the 90s? Because I remember trying to record one at one point. It must've been in the 90s, because I remember recording the Rugarts at the same time, the "Santa Experience" episode. I think I was in 3rd? grade at that time. It was soon after the time I was able to start staying home by myself. Hmm...

Ok. Thanks. :)

Was the Christmas Train in the 80s? It's got like, a bear and some creature that isn't a bear, because the bears were in hibernation. And they had a ranger friend. And they wanted to go to the North Pole to see Santa. I don't remember why. It's been a couple of years since I've watched it.

We've got all these old Holiday specials recorded onto VHS's and I have no idea when they're from.

I'm actually more of a sucker for 80s Christmas commercials than anything. Seriously, I won't watch Christmas movies (seriously, if I ever see It's a Wonderful Life again, I'll scream) but I love commercials and most of the cartoons are still fun to watch too. They can get a little on the cloying side sometimes but the 80s ones are still decent. Newer ones, on the other hand, are the kinds that make me puke. :/

I start thinking about holiday plans in September, crafting while listening to Christmas music after Halloween (hard to do holiday crafts without the music, and if I don't start them that early, I'll never get them done), and watching movies and TV shows around Thanksgiving. I sorta feel like the holiday season starts with Autumn.

This year, I'm already watching Christmas stuff, but that's only because I'm looking for things to add to our next watch-along.

I really envy you for having Halloween on your continent.
I wanna go trick or treating, too, even if I am to old for it :(

Either 75% or all of it is my preference.

What else will get you into the right mood for Christmas?

Retail stores setting up Christmas things in the middle of October?

Oh, I tend to ignore those so I get into the mood at the right time. :)

I wish we had German Christmas markets where I live. Those help.

I've heard about those. It sounds lovely. If it wasn't for the weather, I'd love to visit certain areas of Europe around Christmas to experience the holiday as others do. :)

My Christmas television watching skills frighten small children. I've been known to watch the same special multiple times a day so..I can handle all day Christmas :)

For some reason the only Christmas cartoon that sticks in my head is the Cabbage Patch Kids one. I think I might even stil have it on a beta tape somewhere..
