I've just seen some of the test stream for our Saturday Morning Watch-Along and let me tell ya, folks, the work that [livejournal.com profile] aurora77 has done on this is SUPERB! My daughter watched a half-hour of it tonight and was MESMERIZED. She watched it in true 1980's Saturday Morning form - slack-jawed, glassy-eyed and every time a commercial finished she said "Daddy? I... we need to GET that!"

This is going to cost me a fortune in Ebay fees to pay for her new vintage toy and snack food habit :)

So here behind the cut, as requested by just over HALF of you, is the schedule for this, our very first ever 1980's Saturday Morning Historical Reenactment. Notes will also be included under the cut.

For those of you who, like me, would rather not know anything? You're in for a great ride :)

6:00 Pee Wee's Playhouse
6:30 Get Along Gang
7:00 Snorks
7:30 Smurfs
8:00 Muppet Babies
8:30 The Littles
9:00 Saturday Supercade
9:30 Saturday Supercade
10:00 Dungeons & Dragons
10:30 Kidd Video
11:00 Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends
11:30 Alvin & The Chipmunks
12:00 Pole Position
12:30 Fat Albert & The Cosby Kids

NOTES: You'll notice that we're spread out all over the 1980's for this line-up, and not all the shows are in their original time slots. However, the intent is all there. Saturday Supercade gets a full hour because it's got like a bajillion different cartoons in there. Pee Wee Herman leads off the day because in most parts of the country we had Captain Kangaroo kicking things off, but we couldn't find a good quality Captain Kangaroo from the 80's. So instead we have Pee Wee, the LAST of the live Saturday Morning entertainers, and he'll be giving us a "Secret Word" that we can all scream along with all day long through all the shows :)

Starting at 6am (or a little bit before then), you'll find a link in this community to the YouTube playlist as well as a link to our ongoing live chat. Every half-hour after that we'll be making a new post that tells you what show is about to come on and a link to a playlist that starts from that point so you can join in and not be too far behind.

In other words, if you're not there with us starting at 6am, check back at 6:30 for a new link. If 6:30 is too early, check back at 7. &:30, 8, 8:30, etc... don't plan on joining in with us at 8:17 because you'll be off! Part of the fun of this is synchronization :)

There will be a few polls between now and Saturday morning, but not much else. So we'll see you then :)

Pee Wee's Playhouse... my gosh, that man equals my childhood. Completely. I loved that show so much. And the Mighty Mouse cartoons inbetween? And Casper, too, I think.

I love this lineup! I can't wait to join. I've even talked to a few of my friends about trying to watch it (or a few) with me with their kids!

Pee Wee's Playhouse! There's no way I can miss this. I really hope I can get my ass out of bed early enough. I'm used to getting up just before nine! And I MUST remember to go buy some cereal tomorrow!

Oh, and another thing--what time are we going by? Is this six Eastern Standard or something else?

We're looking primarily at the mid-80's (1984-1986) for this lineup. I tried to keep everything in about that range. A couple of the shows are complete with commercials as aired, and when I had a choice, I opted for 1984 options. When possible, they're in the appropriate order/timeslots. We subbed Peewee's Playhouse in for Captain Kangaroo because not enough content from the 80's was available, or I just couldn't find it.

I like the secret word. :D
