I had two friends that I shared Saturday Morning with in my childhood. Depending on who's house we were spending the night at, we had three very different ways of doing Saturday Morning.
Greg, who was one year older than me, was an NBC Saturday Morning loyalist. We tuned in to channel 5 and we STAYED on channel 5 all morning long because he truly believed that all other Saturday Morning line-ups were inferior.
Damon, who was the same age as me, was a "Flipper". Where he lived we only got 5 channels and Damon would sit right next to the TV (no remote control) and flip through the channels EVEN IN THE MIDDLE OF A SHOW just in case he was missing something better on one of the other 4 channels.
And as for *me*, I would spend my own allowance money on a TV Guide on Tuesday so I could plan the coming Saturday morning. I would write down the perfect schedule, timing each program and making notes as to which channel I should turn to in case of a re-run or sporting event (I hate College Football to this very day because they preempted my Saturday morning schedule so often).
So which were you? Planner, Flipper or Loyalist? I know you probably did a little bit of each one, sure, but which one were you most drawn to? Or maybe you had something completely different that you'd care to leave in the comments below :)

Date: 2011-08-25 05:36 pm (UTC)Sometimes I gambled... "I'll be able to poop as long as Ghostbusters is a re-run..." and then I'd have to sit uncomfortably through the opening and the first commercial break before I could see if it was a re-run or not.

Totally a planner.
Though I would still flip during commercials occasionally.
It was hard when I stayed over with my grandparents, because they had CABLE! That meant more options I had to weigh, and they were often unfamiliar options, so did I take the risk? Or did I stick with what I knew? :o
