I have a theory about Richie Rich that I'm going to force upon all you folks, so bear with me here.
Once upon a time there was a very, very rich child. He had a very happy childhood full of friends, action, wacky inventions and so many adventures that helped this child develop a very strong sense of right and wrong, good and evil, moral versus immoral. He loved his rich parents and his rich parents loved him. They even went so far as to publish a comic book and make cartoons about his adventures, but since they did kind of reveal personal information about their private life, they used the pseudonym of "Richie Rich".
But then, one terrible evening on the way home from seeing a movie, this "Richie Rich" witnessed the brutal murder of both his parents by a mugger.
"Richie Rich" died that day, because that's the day that young Bruce Wayne made his vow to fight crime and avenge his parents deaths. Years later, after years of training, he returned to his faithful butler "Cadbury" and started using his vast family fortune to fight crime as... THE BATMAN.
Yes, that's right... RICHIE RICH IS JUST THE PRE-TRAUMATIC ADVENTURES OF YOUNG BRUCE WAYNE!!!
Trust me... every back-issue of the Richie Rich comic book I've read makes SO MUCH MORE SENSE now! It's opening layers and layers of character development for both Richie Rich AND Batman! YOU KNOW IT'S THE TRUTH! n It just makes SO MUCH SENSE!
So anywho, if Richie Rich was one of your favorites don't forget to leave a few kind words and maybe even go to vote for it in our Best Of 1981 Poll!
