Fan Page: Dungeons & Dragons

Oh, I still love this cartoon, even if it's a bit dated now. I don't really 'do' rides, but that has nothing to do with the consequences of taking this one..
As I mentioned in a previous comment, Sheila the rogue is one of those heroines I wanted to be. Invisibility is definitely a great skill to have! I always thought something would happen between her and Hank, but - as I'm sure you know - this cartoon never made it to its final episode. It's a shame, but it also adds to the legend!

To me, the most memorable episodes have always been 'The Eye of the Beholder' and 'Child of the Stargazer' (I do own the box set these days though).

And if you care for some trivia, Sheila was voiced by Katie Leigh, who also voiced Sunni Gummi in Gummi Bears and Rowlf in Muppet Babies.

I also had the theme tune as my ringtone for a while. <3

Thanks for posting!

You've probably already seen the script for the final episode of this show, but if you haven't, you really should:
Requiem

This was a good series with a lot more potential than was ever realized. I'm looking forward to re-watching more of this soon.

I did think Sheila and Hank were likely to end up together.

My first rollercoaster ride where the coaster went into a tunnel immediately brought memories of this show.

Awesome!! Thanks for the link to Requiem. I wondered whatever happened to those kids, if they ever made it home.

Former DM here. I saw an episode or two of this back in the 80's. Was always curious but it was the 80s... D&D was the equivalent of devil worship back then. My parents never liked me looking at cartoons like that because they were convinced it was of the devil or something.

It always sounded ridiculous to me. What did they think players were doing? Ritual sacrifices around a table involving dice, pencils, and paper? Oh my, I'm pretending to be a good guy fighting bad guys using magic! How is it different than what we did in the backyard when younger? Oh yeah, there were written rules this time. XD

OMG I loved this series!!!! I never did find out what happened to that group though...I remember I liked the rich kid with the dark hair, the spoiled one who was always talking about LOL his dad's limosine. I wonder if they ever made it back home?

I didn't see this when I was a kid (born in '81 so I was a bit too young), but I did watch a lot of it recently. It was a lot more enjoyable than I was expecting it to be. Made me want to go have a session in some campaign, somewhere, so I could be awesome like those kids were sometimes <3

If you love the D&D Caretoon (as I do) and you travel in certain nerdy circles (as I do), search out and purchase and obsess over the 1980's comic book "The Realm". It was like... like you know how TV adaptations always end up skewing away from the original book that the show was based on till it's more like an "Inspired By" type of thing? Like how the movie Starship Troopers has very little to do with the novel Starship Troopers yet both are awesome in their own ways? The D&D Cartoon is the Starship Troopers MOVIE, The Realm is the Starship Troopers BOOK. Hard to find, though... good luck!

I would watch this religiously, but I also played D&D and complained endlessly about how the show had nothing to do with the game... While watching it every Saturday. xD

I got my sister the dvd of this (It was only like five episodes, I got it at Wal mart) and gave it to her for Christmas....She acted like it was the holy grail!

I'm sure it's no surprise that this show was a big favorite of mine as a kid. :) I've been using Venger as a screen name for almost fifteen years now. :P

Venger is a badass! What do I even need to say? hehe One of my favorite villains of all 80's cartoons, right up there with Cobra Commander, Megatron, and Skeletor.

Not to mention that Venger was voiced by the great Peter Cullen, Optimus Prime himself!

As a kid, I was disappointed in two major things: Why didn't at least one of the characters get a sword? What, "too violent"? But clubs and laser arrows are ok? I always thought there should have been a character with a sword, and they didn't have any cool toys for the show! A few exist (Tiamat and Warduke in particular), but are pretty hard to find. NO decent figure of Venger. Denied. :/

Watching it now, some episodes are sillier than others, but they did try to work in a lot of DnD lore into it. Creatures, spells... and back to Tiamat, who I thought was freaking AWESOME as kid (and now!), was SO totally just Takhisis from DragonLance, one of my favorite fantasy series EVER!

I think the one thing I really truly love about this show, maybe even more now than as a kid, but I did back then as well, is the music. Some of the best music of all Saturday Morning Cartoons! In particular, the music over the closing credits. Maybe it's just the massive nostalgia attack it triggers in my ever single time I hear it, reminding me of late Saturday mornings in the mid 80's, that music and the end of the DnD show meaning the end of cartoons for the day. (I remember it mostly coming on around maybe 11, 11:30-ish? I forget what came on after, but I think it was the last cartoon of the morning.)

I'm late to the party on this one... but wanted to say I loved this cartoon so much back in the day!

Presto was my favorite. :)
