ABC Weekend Special Season 6: 1983

(Please excuse the crazy custom CBS Story Break editing of The Secret World Of Og that is embedded above - it was the only version of the original that I could find, and the uploader has found a unique way of getting around YouTube Copyright restrictions by creating something from it that has never existed - BRILLIANT!)

The 1983 season of The ABC Weekend Special introduced 9 new half-hours of programming to add in to the mix of constantly recycling past seasons, my personal favorite being The Secret World Of Og (embedded above). The new segments included:
  • The Haunted Mansion Mystery (Part 1)
  • The Haunted Mansion Mystery (Part 2)
  • The Red Room Riddle
  • Horatio Alger Updated: Frank and Fearless (Part 1)
  • Horatio Alger Updated: Frank and Fearless (Part 2)
  • All The Money In The World
  • The Secret World of Og (Part 1)
  • The Secret World of Og (Part 2)
  • The Secret World of Og (Part 3)

This season included a disproportionate ratio of live-action to animated episodes, but The Secret World Of Og made it all worthwhile :)

I don't remember any of the others from that season, just The Secret World of Og. If you really want the original of Og, I have it. TV-V also has it.

The commercial at about 25 minutes in on that video is, um, interesting.

I remember the Secret World of Og. I wish I could find the Haunted Mansion mystery...

Oh, geez, I remember The Red Room Riddle. That thing terrified me. I think my library showed All the Money in the World at one point for some reason. Og was adorable, though. And wasn't the book series heroine she was reading supposed to be somebody named Lucy Lawless? I always wondered if that's where the actress who played Xena got her stage name.

Yes, it was. I noticed it on my re-watch earlier this year.

Her real first name is Lucille. She married Garth Lawless and took his last name. No stage name in this case. Probably because it's an awesome name to begin with. :D
