Not much sellection this year, but WOW look at the strong contenders! Also not this this is the first year we have a live-action entry in to the voting with "Benji, Zax and The Alien Prince"... I had forgotten that show even existed!

The 80's were one of a kind. They deserved to be remembered.

I also remember: Jace and the wheeled warriors, the punky brewster show, denise the menace, and you can't do that on television... but I don't remember years.

YCDTOT was such a fantastic show. I don't remember if it aired on Saturday mornings or not. I'll have to look that up.

Wheeled Warriors is still one of the best cartoons I have ever seen. I have a bunch of the VHS releases and they are just Good Cartoons.

So I guess Star Blazers is out too, huh? :\

Anyways, thanks for setting this up. It is narly to remember to 80s. Just don't get too heavy.

Anyone remember the one in my icon?

Ah, the memories of sitting down with my twin and doing tactical planning over the TV Guide...

Dungeons and Dragons was great stuff at the time - and only gets BETTER after you've suffered through a few rounds of dice and sheet RP with a sadist GM.

Rubik - probably the first time I saw a positive portrayal of a Latino family. "Minorities" didn't tend to get represented much until the mid 90's in most places.

One that wasn't listed - Kidd Video. Talk about deranged! Served as a poor man's MTV, too.

Another one not listed - Pole Position. I remember being impressed that Tess was clearly the brains.

The Littles - I read the books and was disappointed. The cartoon was so much fun and it made GREAT use of the idea of worlds we couldn't see just outside out notice. Oh, and great use of Nightmare Fuel. Some of the scripts were genuinely scary.

Yeah, when I meet up with fellows who think they know their stuff about 80's 'toons, I usually break out GR to test them. It's obscure in the US - did better in Germany. I used to run the main fan site for it. The good news is that GR makes out good with fanfic. We're in the top 100 over on fanfiction.net's cartoon section. Most of it is high-end, too.

After watching The Littles, there just weren't that many ideas left in the books that were new, so they didn't seem nearly as exciting as they could have if I'd never watched the show.

I would almost swear the entire crew who worked on Kidd Video was on something hallucinogenic. Still, it was one of my favorites. I loved how they'd air a top 40 music video in the middle. I think it premiered in 1984, so we'll come across it soon!

Kidd Video taught me how gesundheit was pronounced.. That was about it.

Pole Position had a great opening and The Littles were one of the best reasons to ever watch ABC on Saturday mornings

For someone who _never_ played D&D, I adored the cartoon. It was source material for many a fanfic before I even knew fanfic was a thing.
I also particularly loved The Littles.

The D&D cartoon was really fun to watch. It opened up an entirely new world. I never wrote fanfic, but I can see how it would be good inspiration.

Can't help but love The Littles. :)

The D&D cartoon fanfic is there, but it's hit and miss on quality, like most fandoms. Some of Sealgirl's earlier stuff is close to original flavor. She is a raging Hank/Shiela shipper, so there's your warning.

Complete agreement... especially as someone who actually wrote cartoon D&D fanfic for last year's Yuletide ficathon. The show was just plain neat.

Alvin and the Chipmunks premiered a month after I was born, so this show always holds a place in my heart. I didn't have cable back then, so this show was actually the closest I ever got to learning about the top music artists from back in the MTV days too. It had a little bit of everything and that's what made the show so great to watch.

Saturday Supercade is still my all time favourite cartoon theme song. Incredible Hulk being a close second.. Even over GIJoe and the Transformers theme..
