I just could not suspend my disbelief around a teenage boy turning into a sports car when he got angry. (I could believe there's a magic horse who runs on rainbows, but I couldn't make this one work. XD) The whole idea just didn't click with me. I avoided it like the plague.

One of my all-time faves. I always wondered how he handled living in CA, though (least I remember it was CA)--it's hot there, so shouldn't he always be a car? LOL. Meh, it didn't bother me much then and still doesn't now. Great shows are simply great shows :)

Not unlike the later Japanese "Ranma 1/2" anime series where the protagonist turns into one form when doused with cold water and changing back to his natural form when doused with hot water (Ranma the boy turns into a red-headed girl and back again).

"Knight Rider" was a popular show at the time and the heroic car is a red 80s Firebird/Camero. The villain was an unseen bad guy in a 4x4 truck named "Dark Rider".

There was also a 3-D feature in every episode when a symbol would flash before certain sequences to prompt the tv audience to wear 3-D glasses and when to remove the glasses as well.

Strange premise...but for Saturday morning...nothing was out of bounds much.
