Hal Sutherland Death Rumor Update

I drove by Hal Sutherland's house this morning, nothing out of the ordinary there that one would associate with a death in the family (extra cars, etc)... but I was too nervous to just go up and ring the doorbell at 8am asking "Hi, uhm... is Hal dead?"

Maybe I'll muster the courage later today...

So far, the "source" of the rumor seems to be a post on the Filmation Fan Facebook Page, which has no links or sources of it's own. The general rule of thumb for these types of rumors is The Rule Of Three - as soon as you see it in three separate sources that are not sighting each other as sources, you can assume it's real. If you have a blog post that refers to another blog post as the source, it's probably not legit.

Oh I hope it's not legit :(

The "Trek Today" website is now spreading the rumor as well, referencing the same Facebook post as the source http://www.trektoday.com/content/2014/01/sutherland-passes/

Star Trek.com has a posting about his alleged death, but again, it cites the Facebook page you mentioned. I also tried doing a search for "hal sutherland obituary" on Yahoo!, and the hits I got were for other Hal Sutherlands.

Nothing has appeared on sfmemoriallist yet, either, and there was something mentioned when Lou Scheimer died in October.

I'm just about ready to officially dismiss this as nothing more than a rumor. Just waiting to hear back from Hal's art studio...

I called there earlier, but I didn't get an answer and I didn't know what to say if I were to leave a message.

I've contacted Komo News. I've looked through obits and vital statistics data reported in, but it might not be up to date enough. Nothing so far, except for an Amy Sutherland who passed a week or two ago. I'm worried, but the continuing lack of confirmed sources gives me hope.
