Fan Page: TEEN WOLF

As I satrted writing about 1986's Teen Wolf cartoon, I thought I would have lots of similar cartoons to compare it to. But then I became stumped - can YOU think of any other cartoons that were based on movies? I can only think of the one other one, The Real Ghostbusters (which also debuted in 1986)... where there any others?

While you think about that, feel free to leave your discussions on the topic of Teen Wolf in the comments below, and then head on over to vote in our Best 0f 1986 Poll!

Well, Back to the Future is an obvious related one... :)

Well, this is from the 1960s, but there was Fantastic Voyage, which was loosely based on the 1966 movie of the same name. It shared the same concept, but that was about it.

My brother and I always enjoyed the Police Academy cartoon series (from 1988):

There was also the Robocop cartoon (also 1988):

The Karate Kid animated series (1989):

And of course a personal favorite that my brother & I could ALWAYS agree on- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1987) though that came before the movie, so it's a bit of the reversed situation:

These were the only ones I could think of (late 80s since that's when I would have been watching first run shows, maybe there were others earlier in the 80s). I'm also guessing that they were all Saturday mornings (I honestly didn't read the articles, just including the links as a starting point for reference/ research). I hope they help you! :-)

Well, if we're looking at the 80s:
Beetlejuice
Droids
Ewoks
Godzilla
Karate Kid
Police Academy
Rambo
The Real Ghostbusters
Robocop
And, obviously, Teen Wolf.

The TMNT cartoon was based on the comic book, and the movie appeared to be based on a combination of the two.

Pee-Wee's Playhouse doesn't quite feel like a spinoff. "Hey Vern It's Ernest" is originally from TV commercials. BttF is from the 90s.
