That's an interesting hypothesis... one I may have to open up to the community rather than researching myself! I wonder just how much new content is produced by The New Big Three (Nick, Disney and Cartoon Network) as compared to the old days? Newer shows seem to focus on longer seasons, too... 13 episodes per season of most classic cartoons, 22 or more of most modern shows...

Hmmmm...
