Fan Page: Pryor's Place

I think that the sole purpose of this show is so that when all us 80's kids hit a certain age we could all go "HOLY MOLEY THEY GAVE RICHARD PRYOR A KIDS SHOW?!?!?!", shortly followed by "Why don't I remember this show?".

I have no memory of this show beyond the ads for CBS Saturday Morning I'd find in my weekly dose of comic books.

How many other "R rated" characters or people were given cartoons or kids shows? I remember Robocop, Conan, Toxic Avenger, Rambo, and Police Academy cartoons (pretty sure up until the point he got a cartoon that Chuck Norris had never done a PG rated film either). Anyone else know of any others?

I watched this; I remember it as being treacly and generally weak. I also remember thinking that Richard Pryor could have done so much better!

I think the only casting decision that was even stranger was when PBS cast George Carlin in a kids' show. (Don't remember the title, but I know it had something to do with Thomas The Tank Engine.)

I don't think I ever watched Pryor's Place, but I do remember seeing ads/commercials for it.

I remember my parents being surprised they gave him a kids show. I think it was my dad who told me I should watch something else because Richard Pryor was a very rude man. I only very vaguely recall anything about it and I don't think I ever really watched it.
